Ian Thompson is an Inspector at the Queensland Police Service (QPS) Academy. He has been a police officer for 37 years, serving in investigative and executive support roles across Queensland. Ian has a passion for improving police recruit skills with a focus on communication and procedural justice and has facilitated the implementation of evidenced based workshops in QPS.
He has completed a Master of Studies in applied criminology and police management at the University of Cambridge and a Master of Leadership and Management at Charles Sturt University.
Ian received the Australian Police Medal in 2014 and has co-produced research with UQ on diversity in the QPS, Procedural Justice and Police Legitimacy.
